If there was a country in the past that regularly drew attention to itself with even stronger age rating guidelines than Germany, it was Australia. There, the next Cyberpunk 2077 has been put under the microscope.

In Germany, the situation with regard to indexing games or the necessary cuts compared to international versions of games has significantly eased in recent years. While BPjM is much rarer in this country, Australia is often still a hot spot for developers and publishers. It was there that the next potential sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077 was put under the microscope.
The good news: According to a report by English-speaking colleagues from Gamepot is the latest CD Projekt RED work, even on uncut down, and therefore unrestricted compared to the world version of international games, passed the test. According to Kuba Kutrzuba of the study, Witcher’s makers’ hope received the 18+ age rating in Australia.
Such classification was particularly questioned in Australia, among other things because there is sexual violence and drugs in Cyberpunk 2077; Both are seen in a rather critical way and have already been sentenced to one or the other title. Not so in this case!
“Earning an age rating in Australia was a major milestone on the road to the September release,” admits Kutrzuba. “We are creating an adult title for adult players, so we expected the rating to be R18 +. We did not have to make any changes and Australian players were able to enjoy the full cyberpunk experience.”
While the Australian authority is considered one of the strictest in the world, Cyberpunk 2077 has already received age ratings in most other regions starting at age 18.
