The ranger had to redeem the suffering animal. Now an owner has been reported who installed the leg trap.

What the ranger found Wednesday morning in a residential area in the Marthalen-Rheinau area is shocking: a fox is caught in a murder trap, its eyes are covered in red. Redeem the animal from its torments. the “Andelfinger Zeitung”.
He had been informed of a fox with a collar around its neck, the ranger told the newspaper. He said he was “a little loud” with the homeowner after he found the injured animal. But he only muttered to himself. It is unclear how long the fox was trapped. It was horrible, says the guard. You couldn’t imagine something like that.
“I have no words,” Mathias Richter, president of the Marthalen-Rheinau hunting society, tells the newspaper. And Urs Philipp, head of the cantonal administration for fishing and hunting, calls the case “a big mess.” Now he employs the canton of Zurich police: a complaint has been received for violating hunting and animal protection laws.
The kicking trap that was used is particularly cruel because it does not kill the animal, it just jams it. And like most traps, hunting has been banned since 1988. Even so, these traps are still available online.
