After Xherdan Shaqiri, Manuel Akanji also tested positive for the corona virus in the run-up to the friendly against Croatia.
On Wednesday evening, the Swiss Football Association (SFV) was informed of Manuel Akanji’s positive test result, according to a press release. The defender is in preventive isolation and, according to the association, has no symptoms.
As for the test match against Croatia, the runner-up in the world, the all clear came immediately: after immediate clarification with the cantonal health authority of St. Gallen, the test match in the kybunpark could take place as planned.
Not infected in Shaqiri
After Xherdan Shaqiri, this is the second positive test in the national team. However, the infection could not have occurred through the Liverpool attacker. The positive result of the Shaqiri test is probably due to a previous infection and is therefore not infectious, as reported by the SFV.
It is being investigated what influence the infection of Akanji will have in the course of the consolidation of Nati with the away games of the League of Nations against Spain (Saturday) and Germany (Tuesday). The association wants to provide more information on Thursday.
