The Federal Council is lagging behind with measures – our users would have done it today
The Federal Council decided today not to introduce new measures against the spread of the coronavirus. Most Watson users don’t approve of that at all, the comment column was hot. These are your suggestions for containment.
Switzerland and all of Europe are currently facing a second crown wave. The number of infections is skyrocketing across the continent. Countries like Italy or France have already reacted, have introduced curfews or have demanded a mask in public.
Switzerland reported more than 5,000 new infections in the past two days, more than ever. Although the numbers can only be compared to a limited extent, given that many more are being tested, the numbers have skyrocketed since last week.

Despite the threatening situation, the Federal Council and the cantons decided on Thursday to wait and see. At the press conference, they repeatedly appealed to the Swiss population: it is imperative to adhere to the hygiene and distance rules to prevent the virus from spreading further. The Federal Council and the cantons agree that the special situation must continue and not the extraordinary situation again. However, more steps will be examined in the coming days.
Watson’s comment columns did not approve of this decision at all. In a flood of comments, you posted suggestions about what you think should or should happen now. We collect them.
Home Office
By far the most frequent request was a renewed referral to central office. Two of the top three reviews found that working from home would be a simple, effective, and free measure.
individual responsibility
The second most frequent demand was not addressed to the Federal Council or the cantons, but to the entire population. Many users feel that it is pointless to point fingers at others. It is important that each individual also implements the current measures.
Mask requirement, mounting restrictions and buses
In addition to personal responsibility and the home office, a wide range of other recommendations haunted the comment column. From nationwide mask requirements in stores to renewed meeting restriction, the stakes were high. Fines were also often mentioned for those who refused to distance themselves and refused to wear masks.
What other measures would you have introduced today, dear user? Write it in the comments!
