At the moment, a negative corona test is no longer necessary to enter the Italian holiday island of Sardinia. A few days after the introduction of a crown test obligation for the island, a court annulled it as a precautionary measure.
The competent administrative court of Cagliari decided on Thursday, according to the Ansa news agency, to allow an objection from the Italian government. This had seen the freedom to travel restricted by the obligation of proof and had therefore taken action against it. The next hearing is scheduled for October 7.
Masks are still required
Last weekend, the president of the Sardinia Region, Christian Solinas, signed a corresponding regulation. Since Monday, passengers arriving in Sardinia have been “called” to present a negative corona test that is no more than 48 hours old. Alternatively, travelers can also declare online that they have recently had a corona test with a negative result, or they can be tested temporarily on-site after arrival.
On the other hand, according to the court, the mandatory outdoor mask that was introduced at the same time can be implemented. It applies 24 hours a day if the distance of one meter cannot be maintained. With the new regulation, the popular Mediterranean vacation island reacted to the recent surge in crown numbers. While Sardinia barely saw new infections in July, the number of cases increased in August with the arrival of thousands of tourists. More recently, Sardinia reported 27 new cases in 24 hours and 1,480 people are currently infected. (SDA)
