Children who are infected with the coronavirus generally have no or only mild symptoms. However, an inflammatory reaction can occur several weeks after infection. Swiss children’s hospitals have treated several cases in recent weeks.

In pediatric multisystem inflammatory syndrome (Pims) there is an overreaction of the immune system with high fever for days, as the Children’s Hospital of the University of Zurich wrote on Wednesday. In addition to fever, patients often suffer from abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and skin rashes. The disease was first diagnosed in Switzerland in May, after the first wave of pandemics.
