With the increasing number of cases, the mask requirement has also been expanded: students must wear a mask from the upper level, teachers sometimes from the kindergarten level. Instead, some parents and teachers go to the barricades. A document from the canton of Thurgau shows what sanctions those who refuse to wear a mask should fear in schools.
The memorandum from the legal service of the Thurgau Department of Education and Culture bears the name: “Confronting the refusal to wear a mask in schools.” For teaching staff, warnings and even dismissal without notice are possible if someone “persistently refuses” to implement the concept of protection.
Possibility of advertising for skeptical parents
There are also various sanctions against parents who refuse to wear a mask: for example, a house ban. If this is not taken into account, the crime of trespassing is carried out. At most, disciplinary measures are possible for students.
It is more difficult if you have a medical certificate. One father who organized various mask certificates for his son is Stephan Schmucki from Basel. The school did not accept several certificates. He thinks the mask requirement is bad because you can protect yourself better, he tells Blick TV. And: his son Angelo, who would have to wear a mask in second high school, got sick.

According to Dagmar Rösler, central president of the umbrella association of teachers, the vast majority of students do not have major problems. “Students are very confident with the mask,” says the senior teacher. It is a fact that the mask makes teaching difficult, for example with foreign languages. But: “Our priority is that schools can remain open.” Corona cases in schools were repeatedly known, with massive effects throughout the company.
