Starting Saturday 12 December, you can go back to skiing in Hoch-Ybrig. But if you want to pack your skis and slide on fresh snow in the slopes of Schwyz, you will be disappointed. Because according to the ski resort home page, it is currently only awarded to “valued repeat guests”. Day visitors arriving from nearby Zurich, for example, have to stay in the valley.
It is a special way that prevents a flood of tourists during the coronavirus pandemic. It is, therefore, a partial operation with regular customers, since, as it says on the Hoch-Ybrig website: “At the moment, only our highly valued regular customers with a seasonal or annual subscription can benefit from it.”
Season tickets can be purchased; the day tickets no
However, you can still buy a season ticket and thus become a “valued regular guest.” This costs 710 francs for “normal people”; the locals pay just under 500 francs. So there is no limit to the number of people who can get on the gondolas and drive without being overcrowded. For comparison: a day ticket costs 55 francs.
It is not yet clear whether Hoch-Ybrig will also apply the season ticket rule during the holidays.
Other ski areas are also considering special measures and protection concepts this season to avoid crowds. At Laax / Flims GR, for example, day tickets can only be purchased online or via an app. Thus you can control the number of guests.
In the Saas Valley, the security team monitors the corona intervals
There is another way to do it in Saas Valley VS to maintain crown distances. A safety kit is available at the valley station. “In case of possible gatherings, guests should wear a mask and keep their distance,” says Matia Storni, spokesperson for Saastal Tourism. Guests must queue in columns of two. (euc)
