Big breakthrough in the Federal Council’s massive testing strategy! As Alain Berset (48) announced on Saturday’s SRF broadcast, Corona’s self-tests will be available to the public in pharmacies from April 7. This removes another major obstacle to larger and more regular population testing. The “good quantities” should be available early next month. After that, it will be possible to receive self-tests faster and faster, said the Minister of Health.
A good two weeks ago, Swissmedic approved corona self-tests for use at home. A small revolution: because tests that are not evaluated in laboratories are prohibited in Switzerland. An exception was made for crown tests. In the future, Mr. and Mrs. Swiss should be able to get five of these self-tests a month for free at pharmacies.
Conditions now clear: Corona self-tests are now also allowed at home(00:36)
“There is always a shortage in a pandemic”
Berset justifies the fact that it has taken so long anyway by saying that there is always a shortage in a pandemic. That is why it takes a little time before everything works fine. But that will be the case very quickly. Unfortunately, it is no longer enough before Easter. “But we are a week ahead of schedule.”
In addition to the ongoing vaccination campaign, large-scale test campaigns are the second cornerstone of the Swiss crown strategy. The Federal Council hopes that this will ease as soon as possible, which should allow, at least partially, to return to normality. (SDA / ste)
