In Switzerland and Liechtenstein, 1,487 coronavirus infections were reported to the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) on Friday. In addition, the office recorded three new deaths. 23 people with Covid-19 were recently admitted to the hospital.
The new number of cases is significantly higher than the numbers on Wednesday and Thursday. The BAG had received 1,077 new cases by Wednesday and 1,172 by Thursday. This was the number of daily cases for the last time in late March and early April.
As of Tuesday, the BAG had registered 700 new cases. On Monday, 1,548 new infections with the Sars-CoV-2 virus were reported over the weekend. As of Friday a week ago, the office counted 552 infections.
There have been a total of 60,368 laboratory-confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic. Since then, a total of 5,001 people have had to be treated in hospital for Covid-19 disease. The number of deaths related to Covid-19 disease increased by three more until 1794.
In Switzerland and Liechtenstein, 1,470,894 tests have been conducted so far for Sars-CoV-2, the causative agent of the respiratory disease Covid-19. Compared to Thursday, 15,229 new tests were reported to the BAG.
In 4.8 percent of all tests, the result was positive during the last months. However, for the past two weeks, the positivity rate was 6.5 percent. In spring, when the number of cases was as high as it is now, the positivity rate was as high as 15 percent.
Due to contact tracing, 3,773 people were in isolation and 9,443 people were in quarantine on Friday, according to the BAG. In addition, 14,357 people who had come from risk countries were in quarantine.
