(from) Around 600 people produce hundreds of thousands of breads, cakes, cakes and rolls every day in the largest bakery in Switzerland. That’s 60,000 tons of bread and baked goods per year. As the SRF “Kassensturz” program is going public, there has been an outbreak of the corona virus in large companies. So far, 45 employees have tested positive for the virus, Coop spokeswoman Rebecca Veiga confirmed on the show. The big bakery is disproportionately affected by Corona.
Compared to “Kassensturz”, several employees accuse the company of not applying protection measures too strictly:
On certain conveyor belts, up to ten people are half a meter away. And while several corona cases had already been confirmed, the mask requirement was only introduced in mid-October.
Veiga says about these allegations: Prior to the introduction of the general mask requirement, the company was instructed to wear a mask if the minimum distance was not observed. Veiga admits that this instruction was apparently not implemented everywhere. Coop has now taken action, such as additional dividing walls on conveyor belts or temperature measurements for employees.
Canton doctor orders additional measures
Meanwhile, the doctor of the canton of Aargau, Yvonne Hummel, has also intervened. The canton has ordered measures. A first check took place in late October, Hummel writes in a statement. So far, the measures have been applied well. A final verification is still pending.
