The Shoppi Tivoli turns 50. A reason to celebrate. The party should already start in March. But due to the outbreak of the crisis, the festival was postponed. Now it should finally start this Sunday. The problem. The responsible municipality of Spreitenbach reports according to “20 minutes”: There is no permission for Sunday sales.
Now the CEO of Shoppi Tivoli, Patrick Stäuble (51), talks to BLICK. “We have always been open two Sundays for the last ten years and we have never had to obtain a permit from the municipality,” he says.
Homologation for possible noise pollution
In fact, the approval is not a new measure due to the current corona pandemic. The community is checking to see if Sunday’s sale could cause possible noise pollution. Stäuble still sees the reason for the excitement over the pandemic.
“Due to Corona and the restrictions associated with it, there appears to be uncertainty, even with the authorities. People get more nervous. But there is no reason to do so, as our protection concept meets all the requirements, ”he says.
Canton of Aargau gives the green light
Sunday’s sale, which included festive performances such as a balloon artist and a small dance performance, was approved by the canton of Aargau. The permission is available to SEE. The festival also includes a special campaign in which vouchers are distributed to customers and a cake buffet is offered for children.
“We have a concept of protection. Everyone will wear a mask all the time, ”says Stäuble. “We also comply with all the regulations of the Federal Office of Public Health.” On an area of 100,000 square meters that the center offers, it could be kept at a good distance, according to the CEO.
The festival will take place
According to Stäuble, retail has suffered greatly from the crisis. There have been 30 percent fewer visitors to the Shoppi Tivoli since the outbreak of the crisis. “After all, we employ 1,400 people here.”
The announcement is already running: Sunday’s sale should start tomorrow from 10 am to 6 pm “This is not a major event,” Stäuble stresses again. We are not wrong. So tomorrow we will carry out the festival and the sale as planned. “
