Federal police in Rio de Janeiro arrested several businessmen and politicians on suspicion of fraud in the health system in the Corona crisis. “The criminal organization continued criminal practices even during the worsening of the pandemic,” the statement said. They even used the emergency, which allows contracts without bidding, to enter into illegal contracts with the public sector.
According to media reports, these are said to be purchases as respiratory equipment for temporary clinics that the Rio de Janeiro government has built in recent weeks to increase healthcare capacity. Consequently, the provisional hospital in the legendary Maracanã stadium is affected by fraud.
