Condemned financier wants to sell villa on Lake Zurich

“In Zurich there is rarely the possibility to buy a villa with direct access to the lake!” This is the first sentence of the ad for a villa in Männedorf, directly on Lake Zurich. The property described belongs to the convicted financier Igor Akhmerov (55). He was once the CFO of Renova, the group of companies owned by Russian billionaire and investor Viktor Vekselberg (63).

And although there is rarely the possibility of buying a villa like this with a private lawn and beach directly on Lake Zurich, the property has been advertised for almost two years, without having found a buyer. The sale price is only available on request on Sotheby’s International Realty. However, according to “Inside Paradeplatz”, the tax value should be around 10 million francs.

The owner was convicted in 2019

Akhmerov is said to have defrauded the Italian state and various companies by the millions. The Italian authorities accuse him and other parties of fraud in the solar park deals. He is said to have declared that solar panels produced in China with forged documents are European products. Akhmerov was sentenced to four and a half years in prison in April 2019. Four other people involved also spent several years in prison.

The fact that the village cannot find a buyer could be due to the corona pandemic. Or the interior of the house, which should not be for everyone. The floors and part of the walls are made of solid marble. And the gold front door might be too pompous for some stakeholders.
