The association of American Democratic Party supporters living abroad held a rally in Zurich on Saturday. Participants demanded that all legally cast votes be counted in the US presidential election.
The background for this was a request by incumbent President Donald Trump to stop the vote counting. Votes sent by letter were recently in favor of his challenger Joe Biden.
Voting by mail is a proven method for Americans living abroad to vote in elections, Swiss Democrats Abroad said Saturday. All votes cast legally should be counted.
With the rally, the organization wants to support the democratic process in the United States, said the co-chair of the Zurich section, Darcy Alexandra. Another member said it was important to keep calm and peace now. The American democratic system will survive this time.
A good 15 people turned out for the rally at Lindenplatz in Zurich. Democrats Abroad claims to have branches in 45 countries and members in 190 countries.
