The Zurich – Basel Super League match, scheduled for Sunday at 4 pm, cannot be played at FC Basel due to another case of coronavirus. The game is postponed.
As announced by FC Basel, an FCB player tested positive on Saturday night. This is a player who has undergone regular team training in recent days and, therefore, has had contact with the other players on the squad.
After consulting the canton’s medical service, the entire first team, including the staff, immediately went into quarantine, according to the club. The length of the quarantine has not yet been determined.
The increasing spread of the virus in the population is proving to be a major problem for Swiss team sports. FC Basel recently reported the positive case of midfielder Samuele Campo, and Young Boys defenders Ulisses García and Ali Camara – him during a test match abroad – have also been infected in recent days.
FC Sion also reported a case on Friday. In addition to the one that tested positive, which is isolated, four other Sion players have gone into quarantine.
