During a check at the Thayngen border crossing on Friday (08/28/2020) at 12:00 pm, employees of the Federal Customs Administration (EZV) took out of service a Turkish articulated truck with serious technical defects.
At 12 noon on Friday afternoon (August 28, 2020), employees of the Federal Customs Administration searched a Turkish articulated truck at the Thayngen (SH) border crossing. In the process, two cracked brake discs and two tires, some of which had reached the carcass, came to light on the steering axle of the semi-trailer. As a result, the vehicle combination was turned over to the Schaffhausen police for liability reasons.
At the Schaffhausen Heavy Traffic Control Center, the semi-trailer underwent a more detailed inspection. The findings made by the Federal Customs Administration were confirmed. In addition, another cracked brake disc and an airbag bracket / axle attachment were found on the freight semi-trailer that had been displaced in two places.
The saddle freight trailer chassis showed rust perforations and cracks in several places, the longitudinal frame was also warped and deformed. The rear door hinges threatened to fall off due to cracks. In addition, the bodywork of the saddle transport trailer was tilted so that it also created excess width. Due to numerous technical defects, the operational safety of the vehicle combination was no longer guaranteed.
The 56-year-old Turkish trucker had to deposit several thousand Swiss francs on the buses. The tractor-trailer was closed and the driver was reported to the Schaffhausen Canton Prosecutor, Traffic Department.
