Christian Constantin, the 63-year-old Valais businessman and president of FC Sion, who is known across the country for his enormous attrition of the coaches. In a conversation with the “Walliser Bote”, the pattern of Sion shows his emotional and sensitive side. It’s a conversation that his 89-year-old father Martial also attends.
The two have a good relationship and want to enjoy the time that life still gives them together. Because everything was different in the past.
“I didn’t have enough time for him”
Martial Constantin, who founded a large construction company in Valais, admits that in the past “he was only in business”: “I worked for the company from four in the morning until midnight.” And little Christian? “I didn’t have enough time for him, but there was no other way.”
His son “struggled,” especially when his mother Charlotte died of leukemia at the age of just 33. CC was then 13 years old. Father Martial recalls: “It was a tragedy for him to see her. During this time he was lonely a lot, but then he rebelled against his fate. “
Martial Constantin has to dry his wet eyes on this subject. A little later, feelings also got the better of CC when the question arises whether he ever felt embarrassed in front of his dad. “Everyone has their positives and negatives,” says Christian Constantin after a few tears ran down his cheeks. Martial Constantin adds: “My son is much more emotional than many people think.”
“It was too far”
In the conversation, CC is self-critical and at the same time praises his father: “He is never controversial, always fair and trusting. You know very well that words are a tool and you use them in a very specific way. He once said to me: if you don’t say anything, at least you won’t do any harm. Sometimes I took it very little seriously. “
Martial Constantin knows that his son is becoming polarized, and of course he too became aware of the scandal when the CC TV expert Rolf Fringer attacked him: “It went too far, but as an old man I don’t have to explain it to him. . “
CC’s wish for the near future? “I want Martial to stay healthy so we can spend time together. Like today.”
