On Thursday, shortly after 7 pm, a 37-year-old Toyota driver drove down the Prättigauerstrasse from Grüsch towards Landquart. Immediately behind him was a 44-year-old driver and behind him a 75-year-old driver with a passenger.
At the same time, a 26-year-old man approached from the opposite direction with a delivery van occupied by four other people. At the Felsenbach location, the 37-year-old’s car pulled into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the delivery van, police from the canton of Graubünden said.
The delivery van crashed into the railing on the right, veered to the left and collided there, head-on again, with the 75-year-old’s car. The car of the 44-year-old woman who was driving in front of her was damaged by parts of the collision.
The wounded are spread over several hospitals
The 75-year-old woman was seriously injured and her passenger sustained moderate injuries. The firefighters had to get the two out of the car with a breaking tool.
The driver of the car that caused the accident and the five occupants of the delivery van were slightly injured. The on-site emergency physician in charge coordinated the transport of the injured to the Graubünden Cantonal Hospital in Chur, Grabs Hospital and Schiers Hospital together with the Director of Health Operations. A team from Rega, three ambulances from the Chur ambulance and one ambulance from the Schiers Hospital were on duty.
