On Saturday night, Bundesliga fans are watching Leipzig with enthusiasm. At 6.30pm (live on VIEW on the ticker), RB Leipzig asks Bayern Munich for a championship dance. With a four-point lead, the Munich team is ahead of the bulls. If Bavaria wins, a preliminary decision should be discussed.
So at FCB it should be clear: on the way to the ninth (!) Bundesliga Cup in a row, everyone joins in. It doesn’t work that way right now. Two parties that made peace just a few weeks ago are boiling back on Säbener Strasse: coach Hansi Flick (56) and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic (44).
“We both got closer and got rid of that in the interests of the club. We are very optimistic about the future of the club, “Flick told Sky Sport two weeks ago after the Champions League quarter-finals. Before that, there was a heated argument between the two, in which it is said that Flick hit “Brazzo” with “now finally your mouth”. Subsequently, the coach publicly apologized.
Divided leadership
Now, Flick and Salihamidzic still shouldn’t have hay in the same pile, especially when it comes to squad planning. According to “Sport Bild”, this difference of opinion even had an impact on the “Football” meeting with Bayern bosses Oliver Kahn and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. The leadership group was divided over the dispute.
In addition to gossip about Nübel and other transfers, the situation around Jérôme Boateng is also causing discontent. His contract expires in the summer and Salihamidzic does not want to extend it, but Flick does. And in the meantime, “Brazzo” sponsor Uli Hoeness (69) has jumped in beside him, who is known not to be a fan of the defender. On RTL, he said this week that he would do it without Boateng in MS. We remember: in 2019 it was Hoeness who suggested a change to the 32-year-old.
Coach Flick reacts to PK before RB hits as follows: ‘That’s his opinion. I know this from Bayern Munich that you always support your players. I’ve always felt that way for years. “
Who will replace “Lewangoalski”?
The 2014 world champion will be injured against Leipzig, as will Robert Lewandowski. The Pole is involved in 41 of the 78 goals in the Munich league to date. His four-week hiatus comes at an unfortunate time. Thomas Müller already joked on Instagram that instead of “Lewangoalski” it had to be “Scoretzka” (Leon Goretzka, editor’s note). Instead of the world footballer, substitute striker Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting or Serge Gnabry, who was used as a forward in all three World Cup qualifying matches during the national team’s break, should play.
Lewandowski’s failure weakens Bayern, but also makes it more unpredictable. The Saxons, however, have their own plan for how they want to overthrow the primus league. “We have a good plan and we have been training intensively since Tuesday,” goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi (30) told “Bild”. His coach Julian Nagelsmann (33) explains it with a little more precision: “During the first 15 minutes there are clear statistical values for both teams that should be taken advantage of.”
Munich conceded seven of 35 goals conceded in the league in the opening quarter hour. The Red Bulls will want to take the lead quickly and clearly. But they have to be careful because FCB knows how to catch up. They were able to make up 10 of the 13 arrears to date. One win and Leipzig reaches a point. And Nagelsmann could be recommended again for more important tasks.
RB boss is calm
The fact that Flick is traded as Nagelsmann’s new national coach and fan, Salihamidzic, sees the RB coach as his successor already cold coffee. RB boss Oliver Mintzlaff (45) doesn’t care about this. Nagelsmann “does not give the impression of wanting to pack tomorrow”, as the “Sport Bild” put it. And: “Unlike other clubs, we have a constellation of contracts in which we cannot be surprised.” It appears that the contract, which runs until 2023, does not include an exit clause.
The near future, however, is at Red Bull Arena. RB Leipzig versus Bayern Munich. It could be the new maximum duel of the next Bundesliga seasons. (smi)
