It was September 3, 2019, when the police intercepted former soccer star and vice world champion with Germany (2002), Christoph Metzelder, in the coaching course of the Hennef sports school in North Rhine-Westphalia to execute search warrants.
Now, a year later, things are getting serious for the former Dortmund, Real Madrid and Schalke star!
Acquisition and possession
As “Bild” reports, the Düsseldorf prosecution has brought charges against Metzelder with the charge: procuring and possessing child pornography!
At least two women, one from Hamburg and one from Münsterland, would accuse Metzelder of sending them images of child pornography.
As investigations have shown, the incriminating material on the former professional’s cell phone should have been saved. Investigations by forensic experts are said to have revealed sufficient suspicions that the images were sent from Metzelder’s cell phone.
The Hamburg woman is also said to be the subject of investigations because she did not immediately show the photos and was therefore also in possession of child pornography.
WhatsApp messages in August 2019
A year ago, among other things, Metzelder’s house in Düsseldorf was searched and computers and laptops were seized. In early August, according to the “Bild”, Metzelder is said to have sent the Hamburg woman numerous WhatsApp messages containing the defendant’s content. After the search, the former international was released.
Now the Düsseldorf District Court has to decide whether there will be a trial against Metzelder. Until then, the presumption of innocence applies. In addition, the criminal offenses charged are not crimes, but “misdemeanors.” An initiative is currently running in Germany that wants to make the possession of child pornography a crime. (Red)
