Life without blocking rules
The plan to introduce such crown freedom passes seems to find support among politicians and the general public. Jeremy Hunt, 54, a former conservative minister of health and foreign affairs, said last week that he supports “offering individuals who meet testing and isolation requirements a release pass that removes the obligation to comply with lockdown regulations.” .
The government, Hunt said, should give people an incentive to get tested so they can go back to shopping, working and walking normally and leading mostly normal lives if they test negative.
For the Liberty Passes system to work, the government will have to run millions of tests every day. The UK health system is currently running half a million tests every day. From the beginning of next year there should be up to ten million tests a day.
WHO raised concerns
Britain was already thinking of issuing so-called immunity certificates during the first corona wave. At the time, however, the level of knowledge about the virus was still too low to substantiate plans.
The World Health Organization (WHO) had also warned against issuing such “immunity passes.” The accuracy of immunity is not guaranteed, he said. Such passports could create false trust and increase the risk of spreading the virus.
Passports must be absolutely tamper-proof and contain holograms and security technology like those used in passports. According to British media reports, it can be assumed that pass holders will also be able to facilitate travel.
