A video from a party organizer shows a crowd of young people dancing frantically, shoulder to shoulder, to the beat of harsh electronic beats. You’d think it was a pre-Corona video.

But the video comes from a party on Sunday on the Euregia ferry on Lake Constance. More than 600 people and several DJs came on board at Romanshorn and celebrated all afternoon on the ship. Very few guests wore protective masks, although they were distributed upon boarding.

Noise complaint on Sunday afternoon

According to the Thurgau canton police, the German water police had been called in on Sunday afternoon because the music on the boat was too loud and could be heard as far as the German coast. “German colleagues involved Thurgau canton police.” The music was immediately turned down, but no protective masks were worn yet.

The Thurgau Health Office confirmed that several people reported after the event that the protection concept developed by the organizer had not been implemented. In the concept of protection for the event, the use of a mask was mandatory, since the necessary distance of one and a half meters could not be maintained on site. The organizer Rouven Hörler, organizer of the match, rejects any blame. In a press release available to editors, he writes:

“Before and during the events, the visitors were informed about the requirement for mask protection and other hygiene measures. Electronic contact tracing was also carried out. This means that we have complied with all legal aspects. “

In addition, free masks were distributed in the entrance area and arranged in the bar. However, hardly anyone wore the masks, as countless videos and photos on social media attest. The organizer removed this from the network as quickly as possible after the weekend.

The Health Office confirms that the implementation of the protection concepts is the responsibility of the organizers. The canton is investigating the case and examining the legal consequences against the organizer.
