Mobile request
And this is how it works: for example, you can secure a ride in the 10 o’clock gondola at the office the day before. You will then receive a confirmation code on your mobile phone, which must be displayed at the Andermatt valley station. “Shortly before departure, you will receive another request on your mobile phone so that you can pay for your coffee in peace,” Stefan Kern, spokesperson for Andermatt Swiss Alps AG, tells BLICK.
If you are late because you got stuck in a traffic jam or blowing snow, you are out of luck. “But you can reserve a spot in another gondola at the valley station,” says Kern. There are enough staff on site to assist winter sports enthusiasts. There is space for 50 people per gondola. You have to wear a mask.
Due to Corona there are the following innovations:
- On weekends and in high season, the facilities are open from 8 am
- The capacity of the Andermatt-Nätschen-Gütsch gondola lift has been increased by 20 percent.
- Mountain restaurants have 50 percent more outdoor seating. The places are equipped with warm blankets.
- Contact tracing is mandatory in all restaurants.
