Aleksander Kilde is once again at the top of the ranking. The Norwegian, who had won the Super-G 24 hours earlier, beat American Ryan Cochran-Siegle by 22 hundredths of a second.

Besides Feuz, who finished third at the Saslong two years ago, Carlo Janka also showed a good performance. Bündner, who was plagued with back problems, came in seventh. Mauro Caviezel was the third best Swiss in twelfth place. World Cup points were also awarded to Niels Hintermann, Ralph Weber and Urs Kryenbühl for 19th, 20th and 24th places.
Feuz continued his great series of first places on the descent with the podium. In the last 25 races he was always ranked in the top six. During this time he was five times first, eight times second, and six times third. In the last three winters, his perseverance earned him the victory of the discipline World Cup.

Kilde won downhill at Val Gardena for the second time after his victory two years ago. The absolute winner of the World Cup last season avoided the big surprise. With his first podium at the World Cup, Cochran-Siegle follows in the footsteps of Steven Nyman. His compatriot, currently out of action with a torn Achilles tendon in his right foot, won the downhill race three times in Val Gardena. Cochran-Siegle was the best of a convincing American team. Bryce Bennett was fourth, Jared Goldberg sixth.
