Extension of the obligation to wear a mask
The mask requirement will be extended to other publicly accessible interiors. This applies, for example, to restaurants, including bars and clubs, as well as discos and dance halls, museums, cinemas, theaters, reception and rest areas in sports and fitness centers, businesses with personal services with physical contact such as hairdressers or massages, banks, post offices, train stations, health facilities such as hospitals and doctors’ offices, nursing homes and old people’s homes or places of worship.
The mask requirement also extends to educational institutions. It is now mandatory to wear a mask in the areas and interiors of schools and day structures of primary and secondary level I.
New guidelines for restaurants
In addition, the governing council has adopted new restaurant guidelines and restrictions on public and private events. In a restaurant, the number of consuming diners is limited to a maximum of 100 per room, depending on the canton. Consumption in standing areas is now prohibited. A restaurant can still operate different rooms for 100 people each. In clubs, discos and dance halls, a maximum of 300 people can be present at the same time. What’s new is that contact details will be collected from all restaurants, including bars and clubs, discos, and dance halls.
Restrictions to public and private events
A maximum of 50 people are allowed to participate in public and private events in which the required distance cannot be maintained or protective measures taken, and contact information must be collected.
The new mandatory mask requirements for restaurants and public and private events apply until December 31, 2020.
