Update of the race commissioners: Good to Joan Mir
Joan Mir initiated an infraction of the rules in qualifying. The Suzuki driver left the pit lane in Q1 when the light was still red. As a consequence, the time of the first lap is canceled. That has no effect because he set his personal best later. There is also a fine of 1,000 euros.
In Moto2, Jake Dixon drops three places on the grid for behaving irresponsibly. That was the scene where he slowed down and then returned to the racing line. At that moment his teammate Xavi Vierge arrived with more speed and led Dixon to the rear wheel.
In Moto3, Darryn Binder can keep his pole position. There was a contact during an overtaking maneuver against Jaume Masia. The race direction did not sanction.
Francesco Bagnaia: “I thought 1:52 was possible”
Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati / 1.): “I’m very happy. Yesterday I thought a time of 1:52 would be possible. On my second attempt it looked very good, after the third sector it was very close.”
“It’s my first pole position and my first race with this team. I want to make the best of it tomorrow and I think we can get a really good result.”
Fabio Quartararo: “Good potential for the race”
Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha / 2.): “It’s a shame not to have had another try. The checkered flag came a little earlier. Still, I’m satisfied, we got a good lap. In the fourth free practice we tried something that was wrong. I didn’t feel good.” All right.”
“But we have good potential for tomorrow. I will use the bike I have ridden now. We may have changed too much on today’s bike. But we did a good job in qualifying. Now the only thing missing is the race.”

Maverick Vinales: “The first row was the goal”
Maverick Vinales (Yamaha / 3.): “I’m very happy. Our target was the front row. On my last lap I was a bit dirty at Turn 1 so I didn’t push as I wanted. But I did get a 1: 53.0 and I’m happy with that.
“The bike worked very well this afternoon. I really enjoyed the fourth free practice session. But we can still improve. In general, we are already very fast. Congratulations to the team, we are ready for tomorrow.”

MotoGP Q2: Rossi celebrates fourth place on the grid
MotoGP Q2: The pursuers
Vice world champion Franco Morbidelli is half a second off the top, putting him in seventh place. Aleix Espargaró classified the revised Aprilia in eighth position.
Behind them is the Suzuki Alex Rins and Joan Mir duo in positions nine and ten.
Honda doesn’t matter. Takaaki Nakagami and Pol Espargaró occupy places eleven and twelve.
MotoGP Q2: pole position for Bagnaia!
No one else can undermine the 1:53 minute mark. With 1: 52.772 minutes, Francesco Bagnaia sets the fastest lap ever made at the Losail circuit. With this, the Italian achieved the first pole position of his career.
Behind is the Yamaha warehouse: Fabio Quartararo and Maverick Vinales complete the first row. Valentino Rossi will attack tomorrow from fourth on the grid.
Jack Miller is classified in fifth place and Johann Zarco in sixth. Therefore, only Ducati and Yamaha riders can be found in the first two rows.
MotoGP Q2: Viñales beats Rossi
But it’s not over yet, because Maverick Vinales comes back up and clinches third place. Then Rossi falls from the front row again.
MotoGP Q2: Bagnaia takes Rossi to the front row
Francesco Bagnaia is the first driver to drive 1: 52.772 minutes. In the wake of Bagnaia, Rossi can be taken to third place!
The first 3: Bagnaia, Quartararo and Rossi.
MotoGP Q2: The order
01. Fabio Quartararo
02. Jack Miller
03. Maverick Vinales
04. Francesco Bagnaia
05. Franco Morbidelli
06. Aleix Espargaro
07. Johann Zarco
08. Joan Mir
09. Alex Rins
10. Takaaki Nakagami
11. Valentino Rossi
12. Pol Espargaró
They all go into the pits and get a new rear tire. The exceptions could be Mir and Nakagami, who fired their gunpowder at him in Q1.
MotoGP Q2: Quartararo takes the scepter
First Miller takes the lead, but then the Yamaha duo crosses the finish line.
Quartararo takes first place from Miller with 1: 53.038 minutes. Viñales improved to third place. Bagnaia is fourth and Morbidelli is fifth.
MotoGP Q2: Ducati gegen Yamaha
Everyone finishes the first fastest lap and Bagnaia takes a very fine lead against Quartararo and Vinales.
Bagnaia’s 1: 53.273 minutes means a new lap record!
MotoGP Q2: Who will take the first pole of the year?
12 drivers battle for pole position in the next 15 minutes. It will be an exciting and very close story. We are happy!
MotoGP Q1: There is no KTM in the top peloton
Marquez’s substitute, Stefan Bradl, is seventh and will start tomorrow from 17th place. I had four tenths of a second less than my brand colleague, Nakagami.
The best KTM representative is Miguel Oliveira in fifth place, which means starting position 15. Oliveira was around one tenth and a half behind a place in Q2.
MotoGP Q1: Nakagami’s fastest time
On his last lap, Takaaki Nakagami set a new best time of 1: 53.577 minutes. The Honda rider pushed Joan Mir into second place by 0.151 seconds.
With this result, Q1 also comes to an end. Nakagami and Mir go to Q2.
Newbies can inspire. Enea Bastianini and Jorge Martín occupy the third and fourth place. Bad luck for Martin, because on his last fastest lap he follows Nakagami and also has better intermediate times, but then the front wheel slips at Turn 12 and falls.
