BAG reports 425 new infections on Saturday

On Friday (yesterday) with 405 new infections, the mark of 400 cases per day was surpassed again for the first time since mid-April. There were 364 confirmed cases on Thursday, 370 on Wednesday, 216 on Tuesday and 163 last Monday.

There have been a total of 43,957 laboratory-confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic, as the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG) announced on Saturday. Compared to the previous day, there were six more hospitalizations. Since the start of the pandemic, 4,590 people have had to be treated in hospital for Covid 19 disease. No new deaths were reported. The death toll related to a Covid 19 disease remained at 1732.

To date, 1,085,932 tests have been conducted for Sars-CoV-2, the causative agent of the respiratory disease Covid-19, in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. In one day, 15,022 new tests were reported to the BAG.

Due to contact tracing, there were 1,641 people in isolation and 4,924 people in quarantine as of Saturday, according to the BAG. In addition, 7,559 returnees from risk countries were in quarantine.
