The Axenstrasse had to be blocked after the rock fall. According to the police, no one was injured. An unknown amount of rubble remained on the street. This is closed between Flüelen and Sisikon until at least Wednesday noon.
The rock fall fell for unknown reasons around 10:15 p.m., as an Urner Kantonspolizei employee said when asked by the Keystone-SDA news agency. There were no people damaged. The street was closed until at least 10 a.m. on Wednesday. The official did not provide further information.
Axenstrasse is part of the A4 and connects Brunnen with Flüelen on the right bank of Lake Lucerne. An alarm system is installed in the Gumpisch rockfall area between Flüelen and Sisikon, leading to the immediate closure of the section of the A4 road in the event of rockfall. In the past, several debris flows have already been reduced in the Gumpisch Valley. (SDA)
