As reported by various outlets, a new closure of much of the trade and exit restrictions are in the room until January 17, in addition to online lessons for students after the holidays. It is not clear what will happen to the ski resorts that should open on December 24.

Austria did not reopen its stores and schools across the country until December 7 after a three-week shutdown with 24-hour exit rules. Corona infection figures, which hit new record highs every day before the second lockdown, have dropped significantly since then, but have recently stalled. In the past seven days, Austria still had 206 infections per 100,000 inhabitants as of Friday; as of mid-November there were still more than 550.
However, experts like the government’s Crown Commission warn of a significant increase during the holidays. About 500 of the up to 850 intensive care beds available for corona patients are currently occupied.
