The two men, aged 18 and 24, were arrested this afternoon by Diamant’s special unit “in consultation with the Austrian authorities”. The Zurich canton police announced this in the evening. The Zurich Canton Prosecutor, the Federal Criminal Police, the Federal Police (Fedpol) and the Winterthur City Police also participated.

The Federal Prosecutor’s Office later announced more details about the detainees: both are Swiss nationals and both are already involved in criminal proceedings that the authority is carrying out in 2018 and 2019 on charges of terrorism. The elderly detainee was accused in one of these criminal proceedings.
