In Switzerland, at least a thousand people have died from Covid-19 lung disease caused by the coronavirus. This was the result of the Keystone-SDA news agency on Good Friday. It is based on official information from the cantons.

Specifically, there are 1,001 deaths that cantons reported shortly after 5 p.m. Friday. This is shown in the data available on the cantons’ websites, which Keystone-SDA collects in each case. The agency updates the numbers twice a day, at noon, and at night.
The Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) reported the number of deaths on Friday afternoon at 805. It refers to reports that laboratories and doctors have previously filed as part of the reporting obligation.
According to Johns Hopkins University in the US city of Baltimore, 3.9 percent of crown patients in Switzerland die from Covid-19 lung disease. That is 11 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants. By way of comparison: in Italy, 12.7 percent of Corona people have died so far, representing 30 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants. In Spain, 10 percent of those affected have died so far (33 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants).
Corona patients in Germany and Austria have a good chance of survival. In both countries, only 2.2 percent of patients die (3 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants). In the United States, with more than 461,000 crowns infected and 16,500 deaths to date, the death rate is 3.6 percent. That corresponds to 5 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants.
