British company AstraZeneca may start vaccinating in the UK, according to the press release. Vaccinations should start early next year. The vaccine is approved for people over 18 years of age.
In total, AstraZeneca will supply the UK with 100 million doses of vaccines. The first cans will be available today.
Approval also requested in Switzerland
Interim results of the vaccine study promised a 70 percent effectiveness of the vaccine. The vaccine must be able to be stored in a refrigerator between two and eight degrees Celsius.
It is AstraZeneca’s first approval so far. There will be more approvals around the world. Swissmedic is also currently reviewing a request for authorization from AstraZeneca. Switzerland has already obtained 5.3 million doses of vaccines from AstraZeneca.
AstraZeneca is a British company that conducted research together with the University of Oxford.
