The murder of the history teacher Samuel Paty († 47) shakes the whole of France: The history teacher was assassinated last Friday by Abdoullakh A. * († 18) in a side street of Conflans-Sainte-Honorine (F) and then beheaded. The murderer Abdoullakh A. is shot dead by the police shortly after.
The history teacher was killed and beheaded for showing Muhammad cartoons in class. New details about the case are now known: French media reports that Abdoullakh A. had apparently previously had contact with the father of a pupil of the teacher who was killed.
Support from Islamist activists
According to the investigators, he confessed that he was in contact with the 18-year-old via WhatsApp on the day of the terrorist attack. There is no information about the content of the messages yet. Did it incite him to make blood? The father’s daughter is reportedly attending the eighth grade at Conflans-Sainte-Honorine school, where Samuel Paty also taught.
A week before the attack, his father had complained that Samuel Paty was showing his class nude cartoons of Mohammed. He then posted several hate speech videos on YouTube and distributed the teacher’s phone number. The father received the support of an Islamist activist. Both men were arrested.
Father filed a complaint
At an unknown time, the schoolgirl’s father also filed a complaint for distributing “pornographic images.” On October 12, Paty was questioned by the police and filed a defamation counterclaim. He was assassinated four days later.
At a national commemorative event at the Parisian Sorbonne University on Wednesday evening, President Emmanuel Macron intends to posthumously bestow the slain teacher Samuel P. with the Order of the Legion of Honor, France’s highest honor. (my I)
