After the alleged terrorist knife attack in Nice with three deaths, investigators arrested a 47-year-old man and detained him.
He is said to have had contact with the attacker on the eve of the event, judicial circles confirmed to the DPA news agency on Friday in Paris. The suspect was arrested Thursday night, he said.
Counterterrorism prosecutor Jean-François Ricard said Thursday night that investigators want to know if the attacker was supported by accomplices. They also want to know more precisely how the man said to have come from Tunisia got to the south of France. The attacker, who was seriously injured by the police, was taken to a hospital and is in mortal danger.
The suspect is said to have killed three people in Nice with a knife on Thursday, and two victims were found in the Notre-Dame church in the city center. The act had caused horror and sympathy throughout the world. (sda / dpa)
