With the match against Lucerne on December 23, 2020, FC Basel will decide the first half of the season and thus the first real break for FCB players since last spring.
In general, these days the footballers retire to the nearest beach. Leave the cold winter behind. Bridge over some oceans. Or enjoy the days with the family. Corona, however, puts the red-blue vacation plans on a thick line on the bill.
Fiasco in August
FC Basel does not prohibit its players from traveling. However, the association appeals to their role as role models. Take all trips at your own risk.
Another fiasco like the one in August, when Samuele Campo, Eray Cömert, Eric Ramires and Arthur Cabral used the few days off before the Cup final to go to Italy, Rotblau wants to avoid as much as possible. Three out of four players returned infected with Corona. Then they had to follow the clash against YB from quarantine.
Red-blue has learned from this case. Players must provide information; they must indicate when and where they are going. If the destination you have traveled to would be included on the federal quarantine list, you must return to Basel by January 3, 2021.
According to FCB, all other players are expected to return to Basel on January 4. Training begins on January 6, 2021. One day before the first training session, FCB players will be tested for the virus. The hope of FCB coach Ciriaco Sforza to start the preparation with all the players in the new year dies at the end. One can only hope that players only come back with a sunburn instead of Corona.
