- Swiss boss Thomas Klühr will leave the airline’s leadership at the end of the year.
- He leaves the company after almost five years with Swiss and more than 30 years with Lufthansa Group, to which Swiss belongs.
- A decision on his successor should be made before the end of the year.
Klühr has asked the Board of Directors to relieve him of his position at the end of 2020, Swiss announced. The board of directors accepted this request with the greatest regret, but respected his private motives.
After his resignation, Klühr will take a seat in the newly created Swiss Aviation Foundation. This will ensure compliance with the location agreement between the federal government and the Lufthansa Group regarding the development of the center in Zurich. The establishment of the foundation was a prerequisite for the federal government to support Switzerland in the crown crisis with a loan guarantee.
According to the announcement, the crisis in the crown was not the reason for Klühr’s resignation. He had postponed his resignation, which was already scheduled for the first quarter of this year, following the outbreak of the crisis, and maneuvered Switzerland with confidence at this difficult time, he said.
