Without exception, the local teams prevailed in all three games of the ice hockey championship on Monday. Zug consolidated his place at the top of the table; Davos and the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers approach the midfield.

Thanks to a lightning start, the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers defeated HC Lugano 5-2. After just 21 minutes, the St. Gallen team led 3-0. Only then did Lugano reflect on his strengths.

The tension arose as Lugano scored a goal just 50 seconds after the 0: 3 (by Jérémy Wick) outnumbered by Tim Heed. After this first blow from Ticino, uncertainty crept into the Lakers’ ranks, which was not surprising after seven defeats in nine rounds.

Alessio Bertaggia scored the connecting goal for Lugano just 220 seconds before the end.

But before Lugano could tie for the final round, Kevin Clark finally secured victory for the Lakers with a 4-2 victory. Clark had already put Rapperswiler in the lead in the 10th minute. Andrew Rowe made it 5-2 in the empty goal for the final point.

This time a class difference

Five days after Zug only won in the final and hopefully against Langnau after a 2-0 deficit, EVZ clearly dominated the Tigers.

At 5: 1, the final result for the Emmentaler remained within a reasonably tolerable frame, but only because Zug after 4: 0 after 28 minutes was satisfied with the control of the game. Both teams will finally return to action on Wednesday.

In Zug, the second nominal line with Gregory Hofmann, Sven Senteler and Dario Simion put the stamp on the lot. Simion with his tenth goal of the season and Hofmann with goal number 7 of the season scored two of the first three goals. Simion also set the end point with 5: 1 shortly before the end. The formation left the ice with a balance of more 3. Swede Erik Thorell scored 2-0 for the first time for Zug this season.

At the SCL Tigers, Ivars Punnenovs once again guarded the gate. Punnenovs did not make a good figure in the first goal, for which he assisted Senteler. The 19-year-old Patrick Petrini, who scored the honor goal, provided the bright spot at Langnau, his third power play goal this season.

HC Davos beat Ambri for the first time this season

Davos started several premieres against Ambri. In the third direct duel the first victory came after two terrible performances (2: 6 and 4: 6). For the first time, Davos looked solid defensively against Leventino.

Chris Egli scored two goals. In the 7th minute, he defeated Ambri’s goalkeeper Damiano Ciaccio with a shot from very close. And in the second section, Egli managed to make it 3-0 after another serious mistake by Ambri’s defender (a bad pass in Michael Fora’s own zone). For the third time, the 24-year-old forward from Sursee has scored two goals in a National League game.

Ambri suffered the fifth consecutive loss at Davos. And Davos has the next chance Wednesday in the third home game in four days (against Leader Zug) to finally win two games in a row for the second time this season.
