According to the police, the accident happened around 1:20 pm: A couple of tourists were walking through the Altenalp over the Seealpsee towards Ebenalp at noon when it was at an altitude of 1550 meters above sea level. noticed the avalanche.
The man could then move out of the avalanche cone zone in time. However, his 19-year-old girlfriend crouched behind a rock about 50 centimeters high and was later buried by masses of snow.

Another pair of hikers, who had previously passed the tourist couple on the hiking trail and were not buried, immediately raised the alarm and began the rescue together with the friend of the buried victims. Rescuers were able to locate the woman later with the help of an avalanche probe and finally rescue her from a depth of around one meter.
The 19-year-old suffered hypothermia after the rescue operation and had to be transferred to a hospital for monitoring. (cat)
