The number of tests increased by 27 percent, as BAG announced on Thursday. According to the BAG, a total of 30,110 laboratory-confirmed cases were recorded in week 50 compared to 27,359 in the previous week. This increased the number of registered cases by 10.1 percent compared to the previous week.
This shows a regionally heterogeneous picture: the incidence in the cantons was between 185 cases per 100,000 inhabitants per week in the cantons of Jura and Obwalden and 507 in St. Gallen and Ticino. In 13 cantons and the Principality of Liechtenstein, the incidence increased by more than 10%; in four cantons (FR, NE, OW, VD) it decreased by more than 10%.

In the intensive care units (IPS) there were 464 people with Covid 19 disease. That is more or less the same as in the previous week, they say. 375 Covid 19 patients were ventilated, which corresponds to the average of the previous week.
The proportion of patients with Covid 19 in the IPS was 56 percent. Utilization of these stations was 76 percent. According to the BAG, the number of hospitalizations is still underestimated due to reporting delays.
In the period under review, 512 deaths were reported in relation to laboratory-confirmed Covid 19 disease (previous week: 486). There are large cantonal differences from 0 to 12.3 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants. Deaths were recorded in all cantons, except Appenzell Innerrhoden, Obwalden and Uri. Despite some late reports that are still expected, the death toll is expected to stagnate.
