The grand ambitions of the new Quibi video service quickly exploded in the coronavirus crisis. After a month, the app has 1.3 million active users and 3.5 million downloads in total.
“That’s not all we wanted,” co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg, a former Disney studio chief, told the New York Times Tuesday night. He sees Quibi as a victim of the current crisis: “I attribute everything that went wrong to the corona virus. Everything.”

Katzenberg had established Quibi alongside former eBay chief Meg Whitman, and, according to media reports, raised around $ 1.8 billion as seed capital. The money came from Hollywood studios and Chinese online giant Alibaba, among others. The app is initially only available in the US. USA
