- Ruedi Hediger will step down as managing director of the Swiss Gymnastics Federation at the end of 2020.
- Kurt Hunziker will take over on an interim basis.
- The reason for this are the various complaints in rhythmic gymnastics and women’s gymnastics in the direction of STV.
After Felix Stingelin left as director of the world-class sport, disagreements in the Swiss Gymnastics Association (STV) led to another castling on the executive committee.
Managing Director Ruedi Hediger will step down at the end of the year, as STV announced in a statement on Tuesday. After 12 years at the top of the STV, the 63-year-old wants to clear the way for a new start with his resignation.
As a managing director, I have overall responsibility for this.
In recent weeks, several former gymnasts had criticized their former trainers in various media for their training methods and manners. “As Managing Director, I have overall responsibility for this,” is quoted in the statement from the Hediger association, who has worked for the STV for a total of 25 years.
Successor and ethics committee of Grossbacher
Kurt Hunziker, CFO and Deputy CEO, will succeed Hediger on an interim basis. The back of the chair continues in the world of Swiss gymnastics. The association had not ended its employment relationship with Stingelin at the end of October.
A week ago, the successor to the resigned president of STV, Erwin Grossbacher, was appointed: Fabio Corti from Ticino was digitally elected by the representatives of the 30 member associations. In addition, in response to the criticized abuses, the association created an ethics committee that will also begin to function next January.
