Full beds and many ventilated patients – Schwyz hospital is on edge due to the corona pandemic. The situation is so precarious that last week the hospital made an urgent video appeal to the population. “It is so important that the population react now. As a hospital, we can no longer handle that if the number of cases continues to rise, “said Franziska Föllmi, director of Schwyz Hospital, in the video message.
Now skeptics in the crown are attacking the hospital and causing a shit storm on the internet. In Google reviews, sentiment against the hospital rises. The accusations from the skeptics are shocking. In numerous reviews, the hospital is accused of “clumsy scare tactics” and “propaganda”, and there is talk of “BAG and WHO puppets”. In addition, the hospital assumes that “normal colds are counted as corona cases.”
Spital Schwyz reacts calmly
At Schwyz Hospital, hostility is handled calmly. “We are aware that there are also negative comments, especially on a subject like Corona. And it’s okay that not everyone thinks our video is positive. Much more important to us is that our message has reached many people and that they change their behavior, ”Nirmala Arthen, spokesperson for Schwyz Hospital, tells VIEW.
In politics, skeptics of the crown are being taken to court much harder. “I could throw up, even if a hospital sounds the alarm, these incredible wooden heads won’t believe it. Instead he writes negative reviews and tries to erase something from the hospital, ”Stefan Huber, leader of the Zug-based parliamentary group GLP, writes on Twitter about a screenshot showing the hostility.
Crown patients occupy a fifth of the treatment capacity
Meanwhile, the comments against the hospital can no longer be seen on Google. The reason for this is unclear. According to hospital spokeswoman Arthen, the hospital did not delete them or start anything.
The crown situation at Schwyz Hospital remains tense. “The care of Covid-19 patients currently occupies about 20 percent of the hospital’s treatment capacity,” says Arthen. In recent weeks, 22 of the 25 beds in the isolation ward at Schwyz hospital were already occupied, as was one of the three beds in the intensive care unit.
