Initial examinations on Nicole Schmidhofer indicate a left knee injury.
Immediately after her serious fall on the Val d’Isère descent, Austrian skier Nicole Schmidhofer was transferred to the hospital in Bourg-Saint-Maurice.
Initial examinations revealed suspicion of an anterior cruciate ligament and a collateral ligament tear in the left knee. The 31-year-old is taken to the Hochrum Clinic near Innsbruck, where she is examined further. More information would follow after an accurate diagnosis, wrote the Austrian Ski Association ÖSV.
Schmidhofer had crashed into the safety nets in the women’s downhill on Friday at more than 100 km / h. At the same point, Joana Hählen from Bern, Federica Brignone (ITA) and Alice McKennis Duran (USA) also left the track. The three of them went down lightly.
If the initial diagnosis is confirmed, Schmidhofer’s World Cup season should end.
