Disappointment was written on Karin Winter-Dubs’ face when the results of the city council election were announced at the polling place on Sunday. The senior vice-presidential candidate got just 6,946 votes, about 3,000 fewer than Trudy Cozzio (CVP) and about 4,000 fewer than FDP candidate Mathias Gabathuler. Only the non-match Markus Müller fared worse than the winter dubbing.

The day after the elections, Winter-Dubs says she is happy about her good results in the city parliament elections. There, the president of the SVP parliamentary group obtained the highest number of votes of all the bourgeois candidates and was clearly re-elected. However, the 56-year-old business professor has decided against a second ballot at city hall.

“The result of the first vote makes it clear that the executive vice president is not currently being sought in the city executive.”

It is not yet clear if the other three newcomers will compete again. With Mathias Gabathuler it is very likely that there will be a renewed candidacy given his good results and his possibilities of choice, with Trudy Cozzio everything is open. Markus Müller should do without.
