The news that Aeschbachhalle6 AG had deposited its balance sheets and was facing bankruptcy caused a stir. Because in the bankruptcy office, where the phone wires were hot Monday, they didn’t know anything. There it was said that no balances had been deposited. This was exactly what Ueli Biesenkamp had told all employees of four of his companies in Aarau and Thun last Friday, shortly before midnight, by email. Documents may be on the way by mail. Ueli and Marc Biesenkamp responded to questions from “Thuner Tagblatt” and the “Aargauer Zeitung” about bankruptcies in a short press release on Monday night.
“Liquidity due to precariousness of the rental company”
In it they write why Aeschbachhalle6 AG (Aarau), as well as daskonzept AG, daskonzept gastro AG and konzepthalle6 GmbH (all Thun) have come to an end: The bankruptcy of Aeschbachhalle as a young company could no longer be stopped and the other companies were dragged with her. .
Ueli Biesenkamp explains that both the Thun “Concept Hall 6” and the Aeschbachhalle “have as business models events, culture, coworking, gastronomy and interior design”. And also: “Since March 2020 we have lost all reservations for all activities until September 2020 and from September all reservations until May 2021.”
As of March 2020, an attempt was made to negotiate the rent and loan interest with the owner of Aeschbachhalle, Mobimo. “All of our suggestions were rejected.” For this reason “the liquidity of the company has become precarious due to the demands of the lessor”. “Due to the resolutions of the Federal Council and the canton, we were only able to do coworking and interior design. 75 percent of the area could no longer be managed to cover costs. “
Mobimo has already given three loans
Mobimo does not agree with this representation. “Holding the owner’s claims liable for company bankruptcy is unfounded,” says spokeswoman Marion Schihin. “The fact is that the financial situation of the company was already difficult at the end of 2019, and Mobimo provided liquidity to the company with a third loan at that time.”
It is not officially known how exactly the financial relations between Mobimo and the operating company are. Unofficially, Mobimo is said to have made loans to Aeschbachhalle6 AG in the mid-six-figure range.
Since March 2019, the hall was opened in April 2019, until March 2020 inclusive, Aeschbachhalle6 AG did not have to pay any rent. This would have been due from April 2020, but according to Schihin, the payment has only been received for one month. If you estimate the usual prices per square meter in this place, you should assume between 38,000 and 45,000 francs a month. Therefore, Aeschbachhalle6 AG should already have a six-figure rental debt with Mobimo.
Big holes in Thun too
The situation is similar in Thun, where Biesenkamps rented the city’s “concept room”. Compared to “Thuner Tagblatt,” Mayor Raphael Lanz speaks of “considerable rent debts.” “The city council has repeatedly lent a hand to optimize the framework,” he says. About a portion of the rent was waived during the Crown period. But that didn’t save the company: “The financial problems probably existed before the pandemic.”
Employees complain about wage arrears
The Aeschbachhalle’s bar and restaurant have been closed for about three weeks and nothing happens in the event hall due to the crown. Most of the inventory is cleared. Employees report that they received incomplete wages for September and October, and that they are still waiting for November wages.
It should be noted that at the end of October a new Biesenkamp company was founded: the concept group AG. Konzepthalle6 AG also exists. Apparently a new beginning is being tested in Thun.
