Luca Aerni continues to convince. After the first race of the second World Cup slalom in Chamonix, the Bernese is the best Swiss in fourth place, with Henrik Kristoffersen leading the way.

The day after his great performance in the second round, in which he had moved from 29 to 4, Aerni reconfirmed his current best form. Now he has lost a good half second to leader Henrik Kristoffersen and therefore has a chance to get on the podium. Austrian Marco Schwarz, third, was just nine hundredths faster.

The second best Swiss was Ramon Zenhäusern. He’s less than a second from Kristoffersen. Daniel Yule could not cope with the desired conditions on the track, which had become tougher than Saturday and was prepared with a lot of salt, and the course sometimes with strong curves. Yule was a second and a half slower than Kristoffersen. Loïc Meillard and Tanguy Nef were eliminated.

Kristoffersen, who had already struck the second goal in the first round the day before, leads the standings with 23 hundredths of advantage over Frenchman Alexis Pinturault.

Pinturault compatriot Clément Noël, winner of the day before and winner of the year before, fell behind with a big mistake and will miss the second race.
