The president-elect of the United States, Joe Biden, and his vice president-elect, Kamala Harris, addressed the population with a victory speech.
Voters voted for hope and unity, decency, science, “and yes, the truth,” Harris said. “You have ushered in a new day for America.”
“I promise to be a president who does not seek to divide, but to become one,” Biden said. He was declared the winner of the November 3 election by the US media on Saturday.
In his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware, Biden appealed to supporters of incumbent Donald Trump for the opportunity to work together for a better America. “We have to stop seeing our opponents as enemies,” Biden said. “They are not our enemies, they are Americans.”
Encouragement to start over
He was elected a Democrat, but he will be the president of the entire country and “will work just as hard for everyone who did not vote for me,” Biden promised.
