This morning, shortly after 8.30am, a car with a trailer slid into the Walensee while a boat was launched on the Mühlehorn GL.
The 68-year-old driver drove back down the loading ramp to enter the water, which leads directly to the lake. Once it reached the required water depth, the vehicle combination began to slide deeper into the lake.
Jumped in time
Although the handlebars applied the brakes, they could no longer prevent slipping. The 68-year-old man abandoned the vehicle in time before it sank. Environmentally hazardous fluids did not leak from the sunken vehicle. A mobile crane and divers were used to retrieve the vehicle combination.
There was considerable damage to the passenger car and according to the Glarus canton police, no one was injured in the incident. (Connecticut)
