- 14 young people were injured in a lightning strike in Abtwil (SG) on Tuesday night.
- The accident occurred on a sports field. The youths had participated in a soccer game there.

Lightning struck a lighting pole at 8:40 pm during a match between FC Abtwil’s B-Juniors and FC Münsterlingen, as Hanspeter Krüsi, spokesman for the St. Gallen cantonal police, said. After the impact, lightning bolts spread across the field. Several young people were affected by the flow of electricity.
There were a large number of police and ambulances at the scene. In addition to six ambulances, several police patrols and Rega, a care team was also on duty. The canton prosecutor of St. Gallen clarifies the course of the accident in cooperation with the cantonal police.
The canton of St. Gallen police are unable to provide further information Wednesday morning about the health of the three young men who are still in hospital.
Another lightning bolt struck a house. The fire brigade had to move to put out the fire. No people were injured in this incident.
